Ear surgery, also known as Otoplasty is a procedure that can either move the ears closer to the head or change the size, shape, position and proportion of the ears. Otoplasty can correct genetical deformities of the ear, large or protruding ears, or deformities caused by injury to the ears. The surgery can be done bilaterally (both ears) or unilaterally (one side).
Otoplasty surgery creates a natural shape, while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face. Patients that have undergone otoplasty report having an increase in self-confidence and self-esteem.
Dr. Leber performs otoplasty surgery on both children and adults. Even if a child is not fully grown and developed having the surgery to help with self-esteem can out way the benefits of delaying the surgery. This procedure is performed at an outpatient facility under general anesthesia.
